I am Founder and President of Quiet Time Ministries, a nonprofit religious organization dedicated to teaching others wholehearted devotion to God and His Word. This ministry began over ten years ago and has grown to include speaking, writing, online, publishing, and training at the Quiet Time Ministries Resource and Training Center. I’m also Director of Women’s Ministries at Southwest Community Church and on the adjunct faculty of Biola University.
I began learning about ministry through involvement with Campus Crusade For Christ at Arizona State University. Through that ministry I surrendered my life to the Lord. I remember sitting in the chapel at Arrowhead Springs and talking with the Lord about serving Him for the rest of my life. That was just the beginning.
I spent four years on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ and the Josh McDowell Ministry. I learned so many valuable lessons about ministry from Josh McDowell. Like doing all things for the sake of the gospel. Like how to write and speak and travel all over the place. Like doing a hundred things at once. Like delegating to others and organizing a ministry. Like seeing the great value of multimedia. Josh is a true servant of the Lord.
After I married, I moved to San Diego. I taught Bible studies and discovered how much I love leading others to grow in their relationship with the Lord. Then my husband suggested I get my Master’s Degree at Bethel Theological Seminary. That was a whole new adventure for me. I discovered how much I love to study, think, and write.
During my last year in seminary, the Lord gave me the idea for Quiet Time Ministries. That is when the serious stewardship of ministry was entrusted to me by Him. Quiet Time Ministries began with a newsletter and the Quiet Time Notebook. It grew with the addition of the Quiet Times For The Heart series of books - Pilgrimage Of The Heart, Revive My Heart!, A Heart That Dances, A Heart On Fire, and A Heart To See Forever (three published by NavPress), A Heart On Fire, and A Heart To See Forever. I began writing a new series in 2004 - a 30 day Journey series - Six Secrets To A Powerful Quiet Time and Knowing and Loving The Bible, Walking With The God Who Cares, Set My Heart On Fire, Trusting In The Names Of God, and Passionate Prayer (all published by Harvest House Publishers). A new series, A Quiet Time Experience, includes A Heart That Hopes In God, Run Before The Wind, Trusting In The Names of God, and Passionate Prayer.
My great passion is to see others spend quiet time alone with God in His Word. I am greatly burdened with seeing the Church of Jesus Christ open the pages of God’s Word, day by day, and draw near to God. And then, I’m intensely interested, involved, and excited about ministry. I believe that ministry is best defined as “Jesus Christ in action.” I love to see Him in action. All of ministry is an experiment. And what a privilege it is to engage in all that is wrapped up in answering the call from Jesus to “go therefore and make disciples of all nations” in Matthew 28:18-20. Lord willing, I will spend the rest of my days doing exactly that.
