Well, it is almost New Year’s Eve and then a New Year, 2007. Just a little over a week ago I received a wonderful surprise from Harvest House Publishers; one of the first copies of Knowing And Loving The Bible, hot off the press. It’s beautiful and I am just so excited about this new book. I anticipate our copies arriving sometime next week. I won’t be there to see them firsthand, however, because I am away from home buried in what I call my “writing cave.” Yes, I am writing another book–one that has been on my heart for a long time. This book began to take shape in my own heart and mind about five years ago. The title is Set My Heart On Fire–Experiencing The Power Of The Holy Spirit In Your Life. This book is beginning to take on a life of its own as my other books have. I am writing about what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit and what happens as a result. Oh how imperative it is that we live in the power, the “dunamis” (greek), of the Holy Spirit. I’ll share more as this book unfolds. In the meantime, may God bless you all as we approach 2007.
I’m excited to share that the Knowing And Loving The Bible Companion DVD - Spiritual Giants Who Knew And Loved The Bible - is complete and will ship on Monday, January 8, 2007. We are anticipating receiving the first shipment of books from Harvest House sometime in the first week of January, so we hope to ship those on January 8, 2007 as well. It’s so exciting to see the fruition of so much study and work on the part of both Quiet Time Ministries and Harvest House Publishers. We’ve also just launched the new Knowing and Loving The Bible website at www.lovingthebible.com. On this website you’ll find information about my new book and the new Devotional Bible Study collection of pages that can be added to your Quiet Time Notebook. One of the highlights I share in the third week of Knowing and Loving The Bible is learning all about how to incorporate the Bible into your quiet time through devotional Bible study methods including Observation Study, Translation Study, Verse Study, Word Study, Character Study, Doctrine-Ethics Study, and Topical Study. These are simple yet effective ways to go deeper into God’s Word. I also share all about how we got our Bible and why I love the Bible so much. I am so very passionate about seeing others develop and grow their love for the Bible, God’s love letter to us. It will be so exciting to see this new book - I can’t wait until we get our first box of these books. We are already receiving pre-orders for Knowing and Loving The Bible. I am going to personally sign every book that is pre-ordered either via phone or on our website.
I recently received a gift from one of my dear friends, Beverly Trupp. It was a book, Magnificent Prayer, by Nick Harrison. Everyone knows how much I love books. Well this one is a treasure. Magnificent Prayer is a daily devotional of 366 devotions to deepen your time in prayer with the Lord. But here’s what I love the most about this book. Nick Harrison has chosen so many of the best spiritual giants–like J. Hudson Taylor, Oswald Chambers, Leonard Ravenhill, Fanny Crosby, Robert Murray McCheyne, Spurgeon and many more–he includes short bios and excerpts from their writings. I am really enjoying this book in my quiet time and it will have a prominent place in my quiet time basket this year.
I have just completed the filming of 6 new messages for the companion DVD for Knowing and Loving The Bible, due to be released in January 2007 by Harvest House Publishers. I am so excited about this new message series. The title of it is Spiritual Giants Who Knew And Loved The Bible. I felt that one of the best ways I could communicate the great value of knowing and loving the Bible would be to share the lives of some of the greatest spiritual giants who have had a tremendous influence in my life. And so, this very special series will include Charles Haddon Spurgeon - The Bible’s Preacher, D.L. Moody - The Bible’s Defender, G. Campbell Morgan - The Bible’s Expositor, Henrietta Mears - The Bible’s Teacher, and Billy Graham - The Bible’s Evangelist. It was such a joy to write these messages and even more of a joy to film them. This message series will be ready for shipping January 2007.
