I am so excited to invite you to the upcoming On-Air Bible Study of my 30-day journey Set My Heart On Fire - Experience the Power Of The Holy Spirit. Tomorrow morning from 6-7 AM Pacific Time (9-10 ET) I will join Lynne Ford and Jamie Bennett of WBCL in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to talk about our upcoming study that will begin Wednesday, September 24, 2009 exactly one month from today. Tomorrow morning we will cast the vision for this 30 day journey to more than 100,000 listeners and YOU are included. How can you join in even if you don’t live in Indiana? You will be able to listen to our weekly discussions online and share your own journey through the Listener’s Hearts Afire area of the website. Hear my video introduction to the study here and then find out more at the WBCL website designed especially for our journey. I hope you can join with me in this. All you need to do is get my book, Set My Heart On Fire at your local bookstore or online. Then we will all begin reading together on September 24. I’ll tell you one of the reasons why I am so excited - because there is nothing so amazing and incredible than to begin relying on the power of the Holy Spirit. Then your cry and determination in life becomes, “I can’t, but HE can!” Oh look out when the hearts of Christians are set on fire by the indwelling Holy Spirit. To borrow from John Wesley - give us 100 men and women who rely on the power of the Holy Spirit and have their hearts set on fire, and we will shake the world. God bless you!

The other day I received a box from Harvest House Publishers. When I opened it, I discovered three copies of my book, Six Secrets To A Powerful Quiet Time, only with a completely new and different cover. “What’s this all about?” I wondered. And then I read the letter from Harvest House. Tears came to my eyes as I realized the significance of what I was holding in my hands. I was holding the English Reprint edition of Six Secrets To A Powerful Quiet Time, now available in India. I just wanted to share this news with you so you could know how God does more than we even realize. He is more than we even know Him to be right now. I also just received the news yesterday that Six Secrets and Knowing and Loving The Bible are going to be translated into Korean. How cool is that. So today is a glory day where we say Thank You Lord and to God be the glory. Blessings to you all.

Trusting In The Names Of God is here - the 30 Day Journey AND A Quiet Time Experience. I am so excited about these books and the companion resources including 6 messages on DVD for the 30 day journey and 9 messages on DVD for the quiet time experience. I introduce these books online in a 12 minute introduction, Trusting In The Names Of God - A Journey and an Experience. Then, we have clips available from each of the two series AND we are giving away the Introduction messages from each series - all you have to do is watch them online or download them to your computer. They are even available to download onto your iPod or iPhone. Just look for the DVD and m4v headings in the 30 Day Journey and A Quiet Time Experience sections of our online store. We also have Leader’s Kits available for you to lead others in these studies on the names of God. I can’t wait to journey through these names of God with you. Knowing God’s names is the secret to trusting God. One of my favorite messages is in the Quiet Time Experience series where I talk about “A Day In The Life Of God.” This message is on the name, Elohim, meaning the One True God and Creator. We will think together about the greatness and glory of God and venture into the unfathomable, incomprehensible, holy ground of the names of God. May we dare to draw near and know Him.

I was just interviewed by Debbie Chavez on The Debbie Chavez Show about Trusting In The Names Of God. What an interview! She asked me about all the names of God and why they’re important, what it means to trust in God, and then specifically, about each name of God in my book. What an opportunity to challenge listeners to know God and draw near to Him. We finished thirty minutes and she asked if I could stay longer - we shared together live on the radio for 45 minutes! I’ve been on her show before and just love being interviewed by her. She’s a very sharp lady and just a great radio show host. If you’d like to listen to the interview, just go to The Debbie Chavez Show and you’ll find our interview on July 8, Hour 2. Enjoy!

As I was pulling in to the driveway at home, I looked on our front porch as I always do, to see if there were any packages. Recently I’ve ordered some books and video equipment so every day is a new surprise. Well today, as I drove past our house, I noticed a small package. I walked to the front, leaned down, picked it up and looked at the return address - Harvest House Publishers! I thought - what could this be? I took it inside, opened the package, and when I saw it, I could not believe my eyes! It was my new book - Trusting In The Names Of God - Drawing Strength From Knowing Who He Is. What an exciting day it is when a new book arrives. I just can’t even describe all that it means to me to receive this book. It’s a lifetime of study in the Word, seminary study, and walking with the Lord, moment by moment. I so long for others to know God. By knowing Him, we trust in Him. And if we do not know Him, there’s no way we can trust Him. You can’t trust what you don’t know. And so, my goal for millions throughout the world, is that they will “trust in the names of God.”
Tonight I carried on the tradition. And those of you who have been reading on this blog know about it. Whenever I receive a new book, I line up all the books on our window sill. All to the glory of God. We keep the books up there for about a week. It’s an opportunity for me to just thank the Lord for all He’s done. This book arrived just in time as we are getting ready to film the series of six companion messages this weekend. And so, I’m excited to have these messages filmed and to be able to share the names of God with others. God has used His names in my life to teach me who He is, what He does, and what He says. And through His names, I’ve learned that God is more than I could have ever imagined and He does more than I could have ever dreamed or hoped. What an awesome thing it is to know and love God. What a privilege to serve Him. And what a joy to worship Him. And what an incredible promise that He is hears and answers our prayers (Psalm 138:3). And so, as I think about the release of this new book, I say “thank You Lord.” And when I say thank You to the Lord, I’m thanking Him for His strength, His wisdom, His guidance in the writing, and for Harvest House Publishers, their entire team, my staff at Quiet Time Ministries, those who partner financially and prayerfully with me in this ministry, and for my incredible family, and my wonderful husband. To God be ALL the glory.

Our team took a trip to Menifee, California for a day of personal revival at Revival Christian Fellowship. More than 300 women gathered together for a time of drawing near to the Lord and focusing on the theme “Revive Me O Lord.” And that is what personal revival is all about - the Lord at work in our heart. Rick Warren says at the beginning of his book “It’s not about you.” But when it comes to personal revival, it IS about you and me - it’s about what God is doing in our hearts. That’s why it was so powerful just prior to the Welsh Revival of 1904-1905 when Evan Roberts ran to the front of the room when the prayer was prayed “Lord, bend us”, and he cried out “Lord bend ME!” Those days of revival in Wales where it was like one gigantic prayer meeting must have been amazing! May we all learn the prayer of the psalmist in Psalm 119 “Revive ME O Lord.”

Yes, it’s true - We are now at GodTube highlighted in two different places. First, there is a Catherine Martin Ministry page and then, a Quiet Time Ministries page. GodTube is all about online video and is visited by 3 to 4 million people a month! That’s a lot of people. I am really excited about the potential to touch the lives of so many people. When GodTube approached me about having our ministry and videos highlighted on their site, I saw immediately that it was a great fit because I am so committed and excited about connecting with others on the internet. Most who know me know that I spend a lot of time researching technology and especially online delivery of audio and video to teach God’s Word to others. And admittedly, I am really into tech stuff - one guy at work has called me the gizmo and gadget girl! You know you’re a bit over the top in tech when the IT guys are coming to your office to ask you about some piece of computer equipment.
Right now I can tell you that I’m very much into online video delivery. And also, we here at Quiet Time Ministries are about to launch into the world of High Definition and other exciting technology. I know, your eyes are probably glazing over at this point, but soon everything is going to be HD and also delivered on Blu-Ray - everyone will have a Blu-Ray player. I was in Best Buy about a month ago and received a phone call. So I went to the television department and sat in one of their huge leather chairs seated in front of an HD television. While talking, the magnificence of the picture just blew me away! They were playing Planet Earth in HD produced by the BBC. You’ll see at GodTube that we’ve got a lot of video clips available including my 12 minute clip on “What Is A Quiet Time”, my original Six Secrets Introduction (I filmed it myself in natural lighting!), and lots of intro clips to either my video message series or books. We have DVD messages available for every single book I’ve written. In the future I hope to have a lot more video clips up here on my blog and am currently looking into a little HD camera that I can take on the road with me. Can you tell I’m excited - I just love this stuff. I have loved photography since I was a little girl with my first Kodak instamatic - remember those? Now I’m using a Nikon 40DX and just love it. Also, I’ve gone all Mac - and they tell you that once you get a Mac you’ll never go back - I think they’re right . Anyhow, that’s just a little tech update from the gadget girl :). Oh yes, and I also have an iPhone

I am so excited to share that Trusting In The Names Of God - Drawing Strength From Knowing Who He Is is now available for pre-order at the Quiet Time Ministries Online Store. And something new and exciting is going to be released with Trusting In The Names Of God. In addition to the 30 day journey, I’ve also written a companion 8-week Quiet Time Experience to take you even deeper into the names of God. Both these books may now be pre-ordered and will be released by Harvest House Publishers in July 2008. Almost as soon as we launched the pre-order pages for these books, we received our first order! It was an amazing experience for me to write these books. I can truthfully say that my life will never be the same. In the 30 day journey, you will learn 5 vital actions on your part to help you truly trust God. I always define “trust” as Total Reliance Under Stress and Trial. But how can we totally rely on God? In this book you will learn how. One of the keys that unlocks the door is discovering God’s names. And He does not just have one name, but many names. I can’t wait to take this journey with others throughout the world. When we venture into what Tozer calls “the mystery of the Godhead,” we are on sacred ground indeed. We must, like Moses did, “remove our shoes” so to speak, and oh, what views of God’s magnificence and glory will await us. In the 30 day journey of Trusting In The Names Of God, we will explore 14 of my favorite names of God in the Bible. I’m especially thrilled that the foreword to this book is written by my Old Testament professor from seminary, Dr. Ron Youngblood. Dr. Youngblood is a translator of the New International Version and Today’s New International Version of the Bible and an Associate Editor of The NIV Study Bible and The TNIV Study Bible.
In the Trusting In The Names Of God Quiet Time Experience we are going to experience 8 weeks of daily quiet times according to the P.R.A.Y.E.R. Quiet Time Plan. Each day you will Prepare Your Heart, Read and Study God’s Word, Adore God In Prayer, Yield Yourself To God, Enjoy His Presence, and Rest In His Love. In the Quiet Time Experience of Trusting In The Names Of God you will interact with God Himself through His names. Your focus will be on Who God is, What God does, and What God says as you explore His revelation of Himself to men and women in the Bible such as Abraham, Hagar, Job, the prophets, and the disciples in the early church. Each day of quiet time includes devotional reading from classic Christian authors, in-depth devotional Bible study, prayer, worship, application, and a promise from God’s Word.
I am encouraging others to make Trusting In The Names of God part of their spiritual growth plan for this coming year. You can begin with the 30 day journey and then continue on with the 8 week Quiet Time Experience. At our church we are going to use the 30 day journey as a Women’s Personal Revival and Spiritual Growth Campaign with all our women and then study the 8 week Quiet Time Experience as part of our Women’s Bible Study. I can’t wait! For more information about Trusting In The Names Of God and how you can pre-order your copies of the 30 day journey and the quiet time experience for yourself and your friends, you may go to the Quiet Time Ministries Online Store at www. myquiettime.com. You will find links on the left hand side of the store under the 30 day journeys and the quiet time experiences.
Knowing God is what life is all about. In fact, one of the things I always say is that our greatest claim in life would be to say “I know God.” I also share in the 30 day journey how every passage of Scripture in the Bible tells you something about God and I share how to discover those truths when you open the pages of God’s Word. I am so burdened these days for the church because I know to many the Bible is a closed book. And if the Bible is a closed book, then that means very few are truly drawing near and knowing God intimately. What is on the heart of God today? You and me. He wants an intimate, vibrant, relationship with you and me. In fact, Richard Foster has said that he believes that God’s heart is “an open wound of love” and that God longs for our presence. I do believe that is true for I see the expression of God’s love for us written all across the pages of His Word and no expression is greater than the gift of Jesus and His death on the cross for you and me. In two weeks we will celebrate the love of Christ as we attend Good Friday and Easter services. Oh, how I pray we will all resolve anew to draw near to God, know Him, and then love and trust Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. God bless everyone as you all continue on in the great adventure of knowing Him.

I’m sitting here in the Dallas Airport waiting for a connecting flight to go back to Palm Desert. I’m reflecting on an incredible two days in Selma, Alabama. And it is amazing all that can happen in two days. Many months ago I received an email from Catherine Gilmer of First Presbyterian Church of Selma asking if I would consider coming to Selma to speak. They had begun the book of quiet times, Revive My Heart. Catherine (spelled just like I spell it!) had the dream of a women’s conference open to the community of Selma. I replied that I would LOVE to come to Selma - I had never been to Alabama and I was excited about her vision to reach women. And so, there I was on Saturday in Alabama. I was so excited to see the sign at the airport reading “Birmingham.” It’s amazing that you can be in one city and then another far, far away from where you live in just a matter of hours. What a drive we had to Selma. I’ll describe that in a moment. But just look at this picture - these are some of the most amazing, on fire for the Lord women at Selma. That’s Catherine to my left. I felt at home with these dear sisters in the Lord immediately. And what a great time of ministry we had together. Many women in the community attended from different churches. We talked together about revival. And we prayed for revival. It was a powerful time - the Lord moved among us and gave us in a new way “a heart for revival.”
Yes, this is a pic of me in front of a Piggly Wiggly. I could not resist taking this picture because I’ve heard of this store and have never seen one. We got totally lost on the way to Selma and just as we realized we were lost, there was the Piggly Wiggly. I said, “We’ve got to stop here. They’ll help us know what way to go.” And I snapped a picture. It is just so amazing to be in a part of the country where I’ve never been. I loved it. What a joy to make new friends all along the way.
Remember I said it was really cold. Well, it was more than that - there was SNOW! Four inches of snow fell the day before we arrived - the women told me this is almost unheard of in their area. I loved it because I don’t see too much snow. And get this–our rental car had a button that was called “snow” - can you believe that. I can tell you that where I live in the desert there are no cars that have buttons with “snow” written on them. I’m surprised we ever even made it to Selma because I was taking so many pictures of the snow.
I arrived a bit early for our last session and took a little drive around the area of Selma. This is a picture of Sturdivant Hall, a mansion existing during the time of the Civil War. It was amazing to drive around and see so many buildings that existed during that time and be in a town with so much history attached to it. I loved my time in Selma, especially, of course, my time at First Presbyterian Church of Selma with those wonderful women. Monday morning was an extraordinary time where we all prayed for revival. The prayers were quite unexpected in that so many, from one end of the room to the other, called out to God with prayers for Him to pour out His Spirit on us. I cannot wait to see all that God is going to do as a result of our time together. It was a blessing to have some time talking with Dr. Ron Stone (the pastor) and his wife - what hearts they have for the Lord. I’ve made friends for life and I am trusting that the Lord will take me back to Alabama again sometime soon. And now, it’s onward and upward. My plane is about to board and it’s off to Palm Desert where I’m working on a new book, reading through galleys on another book, and writing messages for my new book of quiet times entitled Run Before The Wind–Truths From Acts To Enjoy Life In The Spirit. May the Lord enable us to “run before the wind” of the Holy Spirit and may He get all the glory.

Well, I am excited to say I am on the road again and just arrived in Birmingham. It is beautiful here. We flew from Palm Springs to Dallas and then on to Birmingham. I do love the Dallas airport but I can tell you stories of how we barely have made connecting flights at times. You know you’re in trouble when you’re running up to the gate and they know your names :). We spent the night here in Birmingham and are about ready to leave for the First Presbyterian Church Of Selma where I will be speaking three times at a conference entitled “A Heart For Revival”.
I couldn’t resist sharing this picture of clouds I took from the plane. Whenever I notice an amazing picture from the plane I try to capture it. I thought this blanket of clouds as we were flying in to Birmingham was amazing. Just incredible. Well, I will share more later. Just wanted to post at the beginning of this new journey. I can’t wait to meet these women and connect with some friends from Dallas who are also going to be there. What a joy! We have a two hour drive and then we’ll be there. So gotta go - more later once we get to Selma.
